Whānau Ora is proud to announce that The Māori Roll Call has been recognised at the 2025 ONE Asia Awards, receiving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Award - an award created in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Partnerships to honour initiatives contributing to a more just, inclusive and sustainable future.

This international recognition acknowledges the kaupapa that guided the campaign from the outset: strengthening civic participation, uplifting Māori identity, and advancing wellbeing outcomes for whānau. It also reflects the alignment between Māori-led solutions and global best practice in wellbeing and equity.

Mapping Indigenous Wellbeing to Global Standards
For Whānau Ora, the SDG Award affirms the natural alignment between kaupapa Māori and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our approach centres whānau voice, collective responsibility and long-term wellbeing - principles that sit at the heart of the SDGs.

As Whānau Ora Chief Operating Officer Awerangi Tamihere shared, the commitment to civic duty and the wellbeing of our people is not separate from global frameworks, but deeply connected to them.

“This campaign uplifted our sense of civic duty and strengthened the wellbeing indicators that matter most to our whānau. Being recognised internationally — alongside our Gold and Bronze wins — reinforces the impact of Māori-led solutions.”

Celebrating Our Achievement
Alongside the SDG Award, The Māori Roll Call campaign received further recognition at the 2025 ONE Asia Awards:

Gold — Cultural Impact
Bronze — Targeted Video
Bronze — Campaigns for Good

Together, these awards recognise the depth, creativity and impact of a campaign grounded in kaupapa Māori and driven by whānau aspirations.

Whānau-Led Change, Global Impact
For Whānau Ora, this acknowledgement reinforces what our communities demonstrate every day: when whānau lead, transformation is possible. Our stories, values and ways of working carry the power to influence both national and global conversations about equity, participation and wellbeing.
